Hyperion

King Hyperion is a power-hungry ruler who would stop at nothing to gain possession of the Epirus Bow in order to free the Titans and put an end to the reign of the gods.

History[]

Years ago, Hyperion lost his wife and daughter to disease, despite praying countless times to the gods to save them. Feeling they ignored him, Hyperion set out to get revenge for the death of his family and forms an army to destroy Greece and find the Epirus Bow, a powerful weapon that can unleash the deadly Titans held captive beneath Mount Tartarus

He desecrates even temple in his path in hopes of finding the bow and slaughtered anyone who gets in his way, even villages of innocence people, one of them being Theseus' mother Aethra, who he slaughters in-front of him. This act inspires a thirst for revenge in Theseus. Hyperion captures he virgin Oracle Phaedra and plans to use her prophetic visions to seek out the bow but she manages to escape and joins forces with Theseus on his quest to stop Hyperion.

Theseus manages to find the Epirus bow while burying his mother but is soon stolen by Hyperion's forces. He sets his sights for Mount Tartarus and uses the bow to blast through the "impenetrable" gates that guard Mount Tartarus. His army invades, but are held back by the Hellenic forces rallied by Theseus.

During the chaos, Hyperion finds the cage which holds the Titans and the bow to blast it open and unleash them. He flees as the Titans are freed and directly fight against Zeus and the gods. Theseus chases after Hyperion and the two engage in a brutal combat to the death, with Theseus managing to overpower him and drive a knife through his chest.

Notes[]

  • in Greek mythology, 'Hyperion' was one of the twelve Titans. However, in this incarnation, Hyperion is used by name only and this character is actually loosely based on King Minos, however, in this version he is a human and not the son of Zeus.
